The Master Studio
OVERVIEW
This program is for young adults ages 14-18 who are interested in pursuing a degree or career in art, design, photography, filmmaking, or other creative field. Participants get to work one-on-one with an artist ally, who is an expert in the participant’s area(s) of interest. The artist ally will provide individualized instruction and challenge students to go well beyond what is traditionally offered in school, helping each participant create a professional portfolio.
PROGRAM GOALS
The aim of this program is to 1. develop the participant’s creative and technical abilities, and 2. to build an extensive portfolio of work. This program is for young adults who are highly motivated and passionate about art, design, architecture, photography, film-making, and/or other creative fields.
COST & EXPECTATIONS
The Master Studio is a selective program, with participants chosen based on individual motivation, passion, and ability. While the program is free of charge, participants are expected to display their work at our annual student art exhibition in October and volunteer 4 hours per month to assist with various art center programs and projects. Selected participants are expected to meet with their artist ally 2-3 times per month for at least 3 months, although many choose to continue the program for longer.
